Bernama Labuan correspondent Jailani Hassan was invited to Labuan police
station today without being informed of the purpose.
“I was told by an Inspector that I was
the only reporter invited to meet the Labuan police chief ACP Adzhar Othman.
“As I arrived at his office, he
personally welcomed me in and expressed his thanks for Bernama’s cooperation in the area of
dissemination of news on Labuan police activities and crime-related cases.
“He conveyed his thanks to Bernama
editorial team (KL) and hoped Bernama will continue to render cooperation to
Labuan police contingent.
“He presented me a plaque to thank for our cooperation to him and the Labuan
police contingent....Alhamdulillah,” said Jailani.
In the interest of the public, the Labuan
police have pledged to keep the momentum of close cooperation with the media fraternity
in information dissemination.
According to ACP Adzhar, the police’s
performance in handling crime-related cases was measured by most of the
articles run by the mass media.
“Therefore, it is crucial to continue
working together with the media to improve police effectiveness and
performance,” he said.
Adzhar, the first Labuan police chief promoted to assistant commissioner of police said the mass media played an important role in citizen attitude towards law enforcement agents
