A group of 10 South Korean
journalists visited Bernama this morning under the ASEAN-Republic of Korea
media exchange visit programme 2013.
The journalists from both
print and broadcasting media arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday from Manila on the
second-and-final leg of their week-long visit to Asean countries.
After a briefing on Bernama,
they visited the newsroom on the first floor, Bernama TV, Bernama Radio24 and
NAM News Network (NNN).
The primary objective of the programme was
to give the journalists an opportunity to gain first-hand experience and
knowledge about Malaysia as they did in the Philippines, according to a media document on
the programme.
The participants could also
develop personal understanding and friendship with their counterparts of the
visiting country, which will certainly promote better communication between the
two sides.
The visit programme was also aimed at
encouraging the participants to be more creative and active in their work,
through the broadening of their viewpoints.
It was hoped that the programme would
trigger increased interest in the public on the South Korea-ASEAN partnership
through the reports delivered by the media representative taking part in the
visit.
“Media is a lens through which people inside a
national boundary can see the outside world. Therefore, exchanges of media
people between the ROK and ASEAN will greatly contribute to enhanced
understanding and appreciation by one side of culture and life-style of the
other, especially through their spill-over effect of media and the potential
program exchanges later,” said the document.
