The
11th edition of Malaysia
Airports Media Hunt 2013 saw five teams
from Bernama among the 50 participating cars heading to Bukit Gambang in
Pahang.
They
were flagged off from Sepang by Malaysian Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB)
chairman Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad at about 7am yesterday.
Each
car was given nine hours starting from the time the participants received the set of questions from the organizer at flag off.
From
Sepang, they headed towards Damansara, Batu Caves, Karak, Mentakab, Temerloh,
Maran and Gambang, covering a distance of some 300kms.
Along
the way, they had to answer 35 questions with the clues found on signboards of
shops, establishments, etc, said Media and Foreign Newswires Division Manager
Mohd Noor Atan, a veteran of the hunt.
“An
example is Be careful what is served here, blow fish may be dangerous… and the
answer is Fugu (one of the restaurants found with such name).
“Or
“I should be so lucky” partly can be heard here but we need full answer for
full point…the answer is Salun Rambut & Kecantikan Kylie (the song is
connected to Kylie Minogue).
“Or
comically agent P can be found here although Phineas and Ferb might not be
near, the answer is Perry & Co, a law firm -- Perry is the name of the
agent platypus in Phineas and Ferb cartoon show,” he said.
They
were also given two tasks.
At
Genting Sempah R&R, they were asked to remove eels, one by one, from one
container to another within 15 seconds.
“Many
feel weird to touch the squiggly thing, and some refused at all to do this,” he
said.
The
next task was golf putting when they reached the Bukit Gambang Golf Resort (two
balls for 5 points each if they successfully put them in!)
“We
were also required to bring in four treasures with clues given …they happened
to be Lipton Green Tea with no. 9 printed, kacang Ngan Yin with Serat Tinggi,
Cintan Mee curry noodle in a cup with 67 gram and Tuna Spread Cap Ayam,” he
said.
All
the ‘treasures’ were donated to a charity, said Mohd Noor who teamed-up with Halim Hafiz, Raj Anila and her husband Kumaresan to finished 12th.
What
motivated him to participate?
“Money not so but to be together with the team and
meet up with other guys in media…if nasib baik champion then its a bonus.
“Otherwise just to sharpen your skill in trying to
look for the answers,” said Mohd Noor who had participated in five previous
MAHB media treasure hunt.
Started
in 2002, the annual event has taken members of the media on journeys to various
destinations in Peninsula Malaysia.
next year Bernama will clean sweep all top of the list...
