The name for the new Bernama editorial system may have finally been found -- BEST2.
After a two-hour introductory session for the new system, Bernama chairman Datuk Seri Azman Ujang and general manager Datuk Zulkefli Salleh appeared to favour the name BEST2 for the soon to be launched editorial system.
The name reflects a continuity to the Bernama Editorial System Terminal (BEST), a striking identity towards achieving journalistic excellence.
Editor-in-chief Datuk Zakaria Abd Wahab also attended the briefing for Bernama management conducted by system developer Novami Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Novami Holdings Group Managing Director/CEO Datuk Muhammad Azmi Alwi was present.
Training sessions for Bernama staff had been conducted to enable them to familiarise with the new system.
While the old BEST system operated on 'desktop application', the new web-based system can be used either on computer, tab or smartphones with internet access. It can also incoporate photographs and infographics to news articles whereas the old BEST system could only provide text stories.
