After a 10-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur, it was a relief for journalist Nur Ashikin Abdul Aziz to get the chance of her first visit to Istanbul -- the Turkish city straddling Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus Strait.
She was on a 15-hour transit to the Turkmenistan capital of Ashgabat to cover an international trade and horse conference from April 26 to 30.
"Istanbul is very clean, the people helpful, nice food, all in vibrant," she said, posting several photographs of the brief visit on her Facebook.
Nur Ashikin and cameraman Ahmad Azmai arrived at 6am in Istanbul before joining other transit passengers of Turkish Airlines for the tour of the city, about 10 minutes away from the airport.
"It's better to visit the city than staying at the airport to wait for our flight to Ashgabat at 8pm," she said.
Istanbul is five hours behind Kuala Lumpur while the temperature was between 4 to 8C.
She said the city tour made available for those on transit using Turkish Airlines was a good way to promote the city.
"Life is about taking chances and experiencing things.
"When tasked with this assignment, I never think twice especially since the subject of my assignment is not something that is well known.
"About Turkey, I know lately there has been many reports of terrorists incidents and of cos the things worry my mum and myself, to be honest.
"But if one thinks too much and let it hold them back, they would lose a lot of chances and be left with regrets," she said via WhatsApp.
