"The Day We Met PM"

It was a pleasant surprise for National Sales Division Senior Manager Norena Yaacob when she had an unexpected chance of meeting the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Tuesday.
Norena and her team had accompanied Pullman Putrajaya Lakside Corporate Communications Head Hanuratha Thamiselvan to the Prime Minister’s Office to deliver a specially-baked cake by the hotel in conjunction with the 60th National Day celebrations.
Corporate Communications Manager Zarina Rozali also represented Bernama for the event as it involved the news agency collaboration with the hotel.
“Initially we wanted to hand over the cake to the Prime Minister’s private secretary at his office but when he saw the cake, he was very impressed with its size and beauty and suggested that the handing over be done at the third floor where the Prime Minister was having a meeting,” said Norena.
Without expecting to meet the Prime Minister when she went to Perdana Putra to deliver the cake, she was delighted after it was suggested that it would be handed over to him.
“Of course, I was happy to meet the PM,” she said, recalling there were many ministers and pressmen around.
When the Prime Minister emerged from the meeting at about 12.30pm, he was happy to receive the cake which had a layer adorned with a number of the blue-and-white Bernama logo.
“PM said thank you and congratulations for the initiative…he asked what was the occasion for the cake,” said Norena.
Zarina too said she did not expect the Prime Minister would be around.
"It was unplanned," said Zarina who was happy to meet the Prime Minister.
The hotel had wanted to prepare the cake to celebrate the National Day and suggested that Bernama collaborate to realise it.
The three-layer, 60-kilogramme cake was created by Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Sous Chef Executive Zam Zaini Hussin.
