The BERNAMA journalist...

Welcome aboard to a challenging career as a journalist!
One of the first things you should remember is that you are a journalist for a news agency, and the national news agency, to be exact.
You are not a journalist for a newspaper or magazine!
Speed is of the essence for every minute is our deadline as we have to serve a host of news subscribers – newspapers, radio stations, tv stations, international news agencies, online news portals and individual news subscribers via mobile devices.
Therefore, a very important prerequisite to be a news agency journalist is to be able to grasp the facts of the situation, case or event fast so that you can report quickly and accurately.
Our subscribers are waiting. And all too often, many wait for us to take the lead.
By being able to come out with the news fast is one of hallmarks of a good news agency journalist.
This is where we gain respect of our peers in the industry and subscribers.
One of the most satisfying moments about being a news agency journalist is to see your work used in many publications or broadcast stations at one go.
The sky is the limit. It is up to you to score for the organization and yourself in your chosen profession.
The road towards success is to practice the craft because constant practice makes things perfect.
The passion to improve oneself all the time, benchmarking against the best always, will eventually make you a very good journalist for BERNAMA.
