Leather jacket for a 'unique' birthday...

‘Celebrating’ his birthday in exciting Turkey is a unique experience for Bernama Centre for Excellence senior manager Syed Khedher Ismail.

He will long cherished his birthday gift of a fine leather jacket from beloved wife Sharifah Noor Idrus Alhabshee during their visit to Kusadasi today.

The loving couple and their daughter Sharifah Nadiah Alqudsy are on the fourth day of their visit to Turkey with a group of 40 organized by Persatuan Suri dan Anggota Wanita (Benita) Bernama.

Syed Khedher, who turned 52 yesterday, had a pleasant surprise when tour leader Mel announced about his birthday while the group was travelling in a bus, prompting everyone to sing the birthday song for him.

“It is something unexpected and unique for me to ‘celebrate’ here.

For me, the presence of my beloved wife and daughter along with other Bernamaians is truly a great occasion, especially to be in this land where Alexander the Great once ruled this part of the world.

And I do hope, one day Bernama would even have its office here in Istanbul – another gift for me,” he said.

The group also visited a mosque with a unique castle design.

“We got the chance to perform solat dhuha and solat tahiyatul masjid,” he said.

They are scheduled to return home on September 21.
