Sabah's media urged to open bureau in Peninsula...

Sabah's newspapers should  set up a bureau in the peninsula to provide national coverage from the state's perspective as well as to live up to the 1Malaysia aspirations.
This is the view of Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
The bureau could be set up in Parliament to delve on issues expounded by federal ministries involving Sabah's interests, he said.
The bureau would supplement other news sources, including the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) which Sabah's newspapers relied on.
"Over dependence on BERNAMA and other sources may stifle Sabah's media effort to live up to Sabahans' aspirations, especially on the implementation of federal government policies," he said at a dinner with editors and bureau chiefs of print and electronic media in Kota Kinabalu last night.
He commended Sabah's media for their role in strengthening national unity and dissemination of information on government policies and programmes for the benefit of the people.
