Malaysian Delegation Honoured At Indonesia's National Press Day Gathering


A delegation of more than 50 senior media practitioners from Malaysia received a loud applause from participants at the Indonesia's National Press Day celebration for attending the event in Batam today.
The event committee chairman, Margiono,  in his welcoming speech, said the presence of editors from Malaysia and also Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek proved the close relations between the Malaysian and Indonesian media.
"What is more impressive is the presence of more than 50 media delegates from Malaysia, comprising chief editors and journalists, to celebrate this National Press Day," he said to a loud applause from the crowd at the gathering.
Indonesian Vice-President Jusuf Kalla, in his speech when opening the gathering, called on media members in the republic to play their role in the formation of the Asean community.
More than 3,000 participants, comprising senior editors and journalists from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Singapore, are attending the annual event.
The Malaysian media delegation is represented by the committee members of the Malaysia-Indonesia Journalists Friendship Alliance (Iswami), led by its chairman, Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) general manager Datuk Zulkefli Salleh.
Also in the delegation are Bernama chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman and Bernama Editor-In-chief Datuk Zakaria Abdul Wahab.
