Education,
Automotive, Science and Health are among favoured reporting beats of young Bernama journalists if given the
chance.
Some
also mentioned tourism, women and family issues and entertainment when they were asked to state
areas they would like to cover in their daily work.
The
beats could eventually be developed into reporting desks to boost Bernama’s general
news coverage.
Currently
the General News Service has specialized reporters for crime, court and sports desks.
The
views were expressed during the half-day course on “Various Reporting” at the Centre of Excellence, Wisma
Bernama this morning.
The
session conducted by Deputy Editor-in-Chief for International News Service Ahmad
Zukiman Zain is part of the Bernama
School of Journalism programme.
Under
the in-house training initiative,
senior journalists are given topics to enable them to share their knowledge and
experience with fellow Bernama journalists especially new intakes.
"Various Reporting" discussed the wide-range of reporting from personality write-ups to trend, lifestyle, and charity newswriting.
