The
Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising has expressed
interest to collaborate with the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) to
further enhance its administration and management system, particularly in the
information technology (IT) section.
Its
IT Department director, Abdullah Musallim Al Riziqi said he was impressed with
Bernama's operations which used softwares developed on its own although there
were products available from the shelves.
"We
admire the fact that Bernama had the ability to establish its own software from
scratch, and we hope to incorporate them into ours someday.
"Looking
back at Bernama's history since 1968, it is really impressive to see how it has
evolved into becoming the leading news agency for Malaysia, furnished with
integration online services," he told Bernama.
He
was met after a briefing session by Bernama's Deputy Editor-in-Chief (International
News Services) Ahmad Zukiman Zain at the Bernama headquarters.
Abdullah
Musallim was accompanied by six members of the Oman Establishment and European
Business Centre for Training and Development managing director Dr Mohamed
Haggag.
The
delegation also took the opportunity to visit Bernama's Radio24, Editorial
Department and BernamaTV.
Meanwhile,
Mohamed said Oman's transitional phase from manual to e-services required
strategic planning to ensure it was also aligned with the Oman Government's
rules and aspiration.
"We
hope the key performance indicators (KPIs) system that is implemented in
Bernama and its ministry to improve its services, notably for the citizens
would be an example for us to learn and move forward in managing our
challenges," he said, expressing admiration for Malaysia's success story.
