KL
Converge 2014 got underway at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) today
as Malaysia eyes propelling itself as a prominent digital media and
communications hub in the region.
The
three-day event centres on the notions of 'see', 'touch', 'feel', 'hear',
'show' and 'speak', translated across various thought-provoking sessions as
well as pavilions from a number of countries and corporations.
The
multi-platform creative industry conference and exhibition is premised on the
convergence of communications, broadcasting, digital technology and creative
content like films, animation, music and drama.
Organised
by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia
Commission and the National Film Development Corporation (Finas), KL Converge was
opened by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin this afternoon.
Also
taking place is Content Malaysia 2014 designed to equip local audio-visual and
content creation professionals with all the tools to maximise their potential
and business edge.
KL
Converge also features sessions on applications development, gaming,
cooperation between broadcasters and marketing of music through the use of technology.
Knowledge
and other opportunities can further be gleaned from sessions focusing on how to
sell or pitch a documentary and developing business partnerships.
