Bernama, the Malaysian national news
agency, has published a 100-page pictorial book to commemorate the 40
years of strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, said its
general manager, Datuk Yong Soo Heong.
The first edition of the book, entitled "TIES THAT BIND Malaysia & China", was in English and Chinese while the second edition, in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese, would be made available later, he said.
The first edition of the book, entitled "TIES THAT BIND Malaysia & China", was in English and Chinese while the second edition, in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese, would be made available later, he said.
"The book traces the historic visit by Malaysia's second prime
minister, Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, to China in May 1974, the strong
bilateral ties over the years as well as the arrival of the two giant
pandas, Fu Wa and Feng Yi, to Zoo Negara in Kuala Lumpur," said Yong.
Special articles in the book touch on the early diplomatic overtures,
the enhanced friendship between the leaders of both countries, growth of
business partnerships and investments, increased people-to-people
contacts through sports, education and culture, and the way forward for
Malaysia-China relations in the future.
"It is indeed timely that Bernama has come out with this special
commemorative book at a time when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak is embarking on a week-long official visit to China," said Yong.
Pictures for the book had been sourced from Bernama and the Information
Department, two agencies under the Ministry of Communications and
Multimedia.
"We are grateful to the Information Department for the black-and-white
pictures during the historic visit by Tun Razak as Bernama only started
its photo operations in 1980," said Yong.
He said the book would be especially meaningful for companies and
enterprises with a lot of business dealings with their counterparts in
China and those who were keen on Malaysia-China relations.
For the initial print run, Bernama is also accepting orders for corporate logos to be inserted in the book.
Several companies and organisations had placed special orders and they include Matrade, 1MDB and Hai-O Enterprise Bhd.
