Malaysia eBiz To Generate Additional Revenue For Bernama ...

The launch of Malaysia eBiz, an online weekly business bulletin produced by the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today, is expected to generate additional revenue for the organisation.
General Manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong said the newspaper format Malaysia eBiz would provide a weekly round-up of economic news in a format that is easy on the eyes.

"This is a transformation and an innovation undertaken by Bernama employees and we are constantly searching for ways to better serve our clients.
"This new format gives Bernama an opportunity to source for additional revenue as it makes it easier for advertisers," he said after the launch of the Malaysia eBiz portal by the news agency's chairman Datuk Abdul Rahman Sulaiman at Wisma Bernama.

"With Malaysia eBiz being properly segmented, the potential (to reach our target audience) is better.
"So, I think this will attract more advertisers and quicken the pace for us to monetise our services and gain additional income," he said.
Yong also said the presentation displayed in Malaysia eBiz would provide benefits to Internet surfers who are avid online readers.
"Previously, through Bernama's official website, www.bernama.com, we could only publish news that take places over a 48-hour period.
"Through Malaysia eBiz, we will cover all interesting news that happens throughout the week in a newspaper format, as well as, play a role in disseminating information on behalf of the government and the business community.
"With the compilation that we undertake, we will give recognition to work done by our reporters, as well as, show Bernama's ability in the business news arena," he said, adding that www.bernama.com registers 70 million hits per month.
Yong hoped that Malaysia eBiz would become one of the preferred online portals for readers, especially those interested in the development of the world economy and trade.
He said besides serving as a medium to present the latest news, Malaysia eBiz would also help readers understand economic issues clearly.
"We want to assume an important role in presenting important issues, like the increase in the prices of products.
"We must undertake in-depth analysis because people would say the prices overseas are lower without taking into consideration the exchange rate and comparing their situation with us," he said.
Yong said Bernama would invite economic experts to discuss current issues which would be presented via the weekly portal.
"I feel we must always be innovative in our news presentation and with Malaysia eBiz, we can hold frequent discussions and present our news content to our audience quickly.
"Bernama's edge is that we not only disseminate news to 30 to 40 newspapers in the country but also globally," he added.
