The Malaysian National News
Agency (Bernama) has been invited to be part of the Malaysia Competition
Commission (MyCC) working committee on publicity and communication.
Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Michael Yeoh made the offer in a meeting with
Bernama general manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong at Wisma Bernama here Wednesday.
MyCC chief executive officer Shila Dorai Raj said Bernama's presence in the
committee would boost efforts to enhance understanding of the Competition Act
2010 among the public as well as business community.
"We hope to maximise our outreach through Bernama," she told the news
agency after the meeting, which was attended by Bernama editor-in-chief Datuk Zulkefli
Salleh, deputy editors-in-chief Datuk Zakaria Abd Wahab (Domestic News
Service), Amer Hamzah Md Sap (Economic News Service) and Ahmad Zukiman Mohd
Zain (International News Service).
MyCC, which is an agency under the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism
Ministry, has the authority to enforce the Competition Act 2010.
Its main role is to protect the competitive process for the benefit of
businesses, consumers and the economy.
